Apollo Hospital said that the RBI Governor is undergoing treatment for acidity in Chennai and his condition is fine. According to the hospital, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das was admitted to the hospital in Chennai last night due to 'acidity' and now his condition is fine. The leading healthcare company treating him gave this information on Tuesday.
Das has been admitted to Apollo Hospital here for monitoring. The medical bulletin issued by Apollo Hospital's Director of Medical Services Dr. R.K. Venkatasalam said, "Now his condition is fine and there is nothing to worry about. He will be discharged soon."
Das, former secretary of the Department of Revenue and Economic Affairs of the Finance Ministry, took charge as the 25th Governor of the apex bank for three years with effect from December 12, 2018. During his career span of nearly 38 years, Das has held important assignments in the central and state governments in such areas as finance, taxation, industry, and infrastructure. The Tamil Nadu cadre officer from the 1980 batch IAS was reappointed RBI Governor with a further tenure of three years with effect from October 29, 2021.
