GST Revenues See 4.6% Annual Growth in October; ₹1.95 Lakh Crore Collected
GST Collection: GST revenues in October recorded a 4.6% increase year-on-year. According to official data, total GST collections this year were approximately ₹1.95 lakh crore, higher than the ₹1.87 lakh crore recorded in October last year.
GST collections rose 4.6% year-on-year. Total GST collections in October this calendar year stood at about ₹1.95 lakh crore, against ₹1.87 lakh crore recorded in the same month the previous year, according to official data.
According to the data, Central GST (CGST), State GST (SGST), and Integrated GST (IGST) all recorded growth in October, while cess collections declined.
Total GST collections in the first seven months-in April-October of the financial year 2025-26, recorded a 9% increase. This is the highest since the implementation of GST in 2017.
This has marked a major milestone achieved by the GST system in India, reaching its record gross collections of ₹22.08 lakh crore in 2024-25, up 9.4 percent over the previous year. The average monthly GST collections stood at ₹1.84 lakh crore, which is the highest since the roll-out of GST in 2017.

GST collections have steadily increased over the past few years, from ₹11.37 lakh crore in 2020-21 to ₹20.18 lakh crore in 2023-24, reflecting robust economic activity and improved compliance. Recent GST collections indicate a positive direction for India's economy.
The GST Council, constituted under the Constitution to guide GST policy, has played a key role in shaping the system. It is chaired by the Union Finance Minister and comprises state finance ministers and other key officials. Since its formation in 2016, the Council has held 55 meetings, in which several important decisions have been taken to make the GST system simpler and more business-friendly.
