By scoring a century against Kerala, Karun Nair became the sixth player from Karnataka to score 9,000 runs in first-class cricket. He is preceded by Rahul Dravid, Gundappa Viswanath, Brijesh Patel, Syed Kirmani, and Robin Uthappa.
Karun Nair was part of the Indian Test team that toured England this year for a five-Test series, but his performance was lackluster. He managed only 205 runs in eight Test innings. His poor performance meant he was excluded from the Indian Test team against the West Indies. However, he has staked a claim for a return to the Indian cricket team with strong performances in domestic cricket.
