People in Rajasthan are likely to get some relief from the intense morning and evening cold. According to the weather department, the northern winds blowing in the state are expected to weaken from January 17th, which could result in a 2 to 4 degree increase in temperatures.

Over the last 24 hours, light fog has prevailed in the Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh areas of northern Rajasthan, with the effects of cold winds persisting throughout the day. Hanumangarh recorded the coldest day, with a maximum temperature of only 16.1 degrees Celsius. Due to the cold and fog, the Hanumangarh Collector has extended the holidays for students up to grade 5 until January 16th and 17th.

Meanwhile, in western Rajasthan, daytime temperatures increased due to the reduction in the northern winds and bright sunshine. The maximum temperature was recorded at 29.3 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, 29.7 in Barmer, 27.2 in Jalore, 28.2 in Jodhpur, 26.9 in Ajmer, 26.7 in Chittorgarh, 26.6 in Bikaner, and 26.8 in Nagaur.

Morning and evening cold continued to persist in the state. Except for Phalodi and Pratapgarh, the minimum temperature was below 10 degrees Celsius in almost all cities.

Fatehpur, near Sikar, once again reached 0.4 degrees Celsius, close to the freezing point. The minimum temperature in Alwar and Sikar was 1 degree Celsius, 2.3 in Nagaur, 2 in Karauli, 2.6 in Dausa, 2.3 in Lunkaransar, and 2.2 degrees Celsius in Pali.

According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, cold winds and fog will continue to affect Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and surrounding areas on January 16th.

However, northern winds will weaken further from January 17th, causing temperatures to rise. A weak western disturbance is expected to develop over northern and western Rajasthan between January 17th and 18th, leading to partly cloudy skies at some locations. This could increase the minimum temperature by 2 to 3 degrees. Furthermore, another strong western disturbance is expected to become active between January 22nd and 24th.
