Rare Yellow Palash Blooms in Rajasthan, Draws Attention in Sawai Madhopur
Rajasthan: The discovery of two rare yellow Palash trees in the Gol Forest area of the Baunli region of Sawai Madhopur district has excited the Forest Department and nature lovers. The Palash, which usually blooms in saffron, has blossomed in yellow here, a species considered extremely rare.



There are two Palash trees with yellow flowers amidst several hundred saffron Palash trees in the GolForest region of Baunli, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Social Forestry Department in the Sawai Madhopur district. The Palash tree is referred to as the “Flame of the Forest,” but the yellow Palash tree is exceptionally rare. Scientifically known as Butea monosperma lutea, it belongs to a totally different species of Palash. According to the Forest Department, the yellow Palash flower bloomed for the first time in the Gol Forest region around two years back, and it is considered an extremely rare occasion this year. The yellow Palash flower is an endangered variety.
This yellow Palash species is protected and is found only in very few locations. It is a rare species that is being protected by the Forest Department. According to forest officials, the seeds of the yellow Palash will be collected and saplings will be raised in nurseries and planted in other locations. The yellow Palash is mostly found in the southern regions, such as Udaipur and Chittorgarh. This is the first time two yellow Palash trees have been found in Sawai Madhopur district.
During a patrol, a team from the Social Forestry Forest Department identified this rare tree, took photographs, and informed higher officials. Following this, detailed information was provided about the yellow Palash found in the area, leading the Forest Department to devote special attention to its conservation and promotion.
