‘Not Just Government’s Job’: Narendra Modi Calls Census 2027 a Collective Responsibility
During a recent special session of the Parliament, the opposition parties attempted to seek clarifications regarding the government's plans for the Census of 2027. On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi took to the airwaves during his weekly radio address Mann Ki Baat to educate the masses on the procedure of the census.
PM Modi said that the census is not just a government job; it's everyone's responsibility. He also appealed to the public to participate and make it a success. In "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday, PM Modi said that a very important campaign is currently underway in our country, about which every Indian must be aware. This is the census campaign. He said that this is the world's largest census. Those who have already gone through this process will have a different experience this time around.
The 2027 census is digitized. Everything will be done using technology. Census enumerators will visit houses. They will ask you questions and fill in your data using a mobile application. This time, things have become easier, and there is a call for people to get involved. You can even fill out your data yourself. This facility will open 15 days before the worker's arrival. You can enter information as per your convenience. When you complete the process, you receive a special ID.
This ID will be sent to your mobile or email. Later, when a worker visits your home, you can verify your information by showing this ID. This eliminates the need to enter information again. This saves time and simplifies the process. Sharing the progress of the census, the Prime Minister informed that in the states where self-enumeration has been completed, the enumeration staff has also begun the work of listing households. To date, the house listing process for approximately 12 million families has been completed.
Appealing to the countrymen, he said that the national census is not just a government job; it is the responsibility of all of us. Your participation is crucial. The information you provide is completely secure, kept confidential, and protected with digital security. Let's all participate in this process and make Census 2027 a success. In this era of global energy crisis, Prime Minister Modi sought to convey to the countrymen the message of India's progress in this field.

He explained that India has always linked science to the country's progress. With this mindset, our scientists are advancing the civil nuclear program. Just a few days ago, our nuclear scientists have enhanced India's pride with another major achievement. The fast breeder reactor in Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu, has achieved criticality. Criticality is the stage at which a reactor successfully achieves self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction for the first time. This stage means the reactor has entered the operational phase.
Explaining the importance of the breeder reactor, he said it is a system that, in addition to producing energy, also produces new fuel for the future. PM Modi also claimed that India has recently achieved significant success in wind energy. India's wind energy production capacity now exceeds 56 gigawatts.
Nearly six gigawatts of new capacity has been added in the last year alone. India is rapidly progressing in this area, and the world is looking towards us. India ranks fourth in the world in wind energy capacity. The PM said that solar and wind energy are essential for India's development. This is not just about the environment; it is about safeguarding our future.
