RCB had lost both their openers for 35 in 3.2 overs. Devdutt Padikkal then took charge along with captain Rajat Patidar. The two shared a 44-run partnership for the third wicket in 26 balls.
Patidar returned to the pavilion after scoring 19 off 15 balls with the help of 1 six and 2 fours. After that, Padikkal made small partnerships to take the team to a respectable score. However, at the other end, Jitesh Sharma (1), Tim David (9), and Krunal Pandya (4) failed to provide good support. Padikkal added 30 runs in 21 balls for the seventh wicket with Romario Shepherd.
