Rajasthan Police Launch Special Drive Against Modified Thars, Power Bikes; 157 Challans Issued

First, it was Haryana; now, Thar jeeps with black glasses have come under police scrutiny in Rajasthan too. The police have taken a strict stand against stuntmen and modified Thars that blatantly break the rules of the road. In view of the complaints received continuously, besides the increasing incidents of abuses against women, the special campaign by the Jaipur Police Commissionerate was launched on Wednesday and stringent action was taken. Strict blockades were carried out on the big city roads from 2.30 pm to 5 pm. Station in-charges were present at the spot during the campaign and were giving instructions to the teams. The police action was centered around vehicles with black film and stunts. Total 157 challans were issued during the campaign, and 68 vehicles, including Thar and Black Scorpio vehicles, were seized. Strict action was also taken against 77 vehicles with black film and 21 vehicles producing noise with modified silencers.

Police seized 68 power bikes and 68 Thar vehicles on the spot. These vehicles had long been the subject of complaints of creating panic and violating traffic rules in the city. Residents have felt a sense of relief after this campaign. People say that the stunts had made walking on the roads difficult. Complaints of harassment and stalking of women were also increasing. Police officials clarified that such strict action would continue to ensure the safety of Jaipur's roads.
