President Murmu requests scientists to help deal with challenges of agriculture sector
Droupadi Murmu: President Murmu appealed to agricultural scientists to come forward and bring new ideas to save soil, water, and the environment from climate change.
President Draupadi Murmu called upon agricultural scientists on Thursday to develop and disseminate technology. This technology will help deal with problems of natural disasters, dire effects of climate change, and overexploitation of resources.
The President made this remark while addressing the 40th convocation of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology. She appealed to agricultural scientists to come forward and bring new ideas to save soil, water, and the environment from climate change.
President Murmu said, "Agricultural scientists have an important responsibility to deal with such issues." He added, "Chemical fertilizers and pesticides have posed new challenges for this sector. Their impact on soil, water, and the environment is a matter of concern for all of us. Young scientists will have to find solutions to these problems.
Meanwhile, the President was satisfied with the success in agricultural production and its export to other countries in the last decade. He said, "This has been possible due to the guidance of our agricultural scientists and the hard work of the farmers."
President Murmu said, "The Indian economy can be strengthened with the development of the agriculture sector, fisheries production, and livestock." The President appealed to the students that they can contribute through innovative ideas and targeted actions towards making India a developed nation by 2047.
