Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi has been appointed as the next Navy Chief. Dinesh Tripathi will assume his new charge on April 30. On this day, current Navy Chief R Hari Kumar will retire. Vice Admiral Tripathi is currently the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff. In his 40-year-long career, Tripathi has handled many important responsibilities.

Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, born on 15 May 1964, joined the Navy on 1 July 1985. He is an alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa and National Defense Academy, Khadagwasla.

Dinesh Tripathi is a communications and electronic warfare specialist who has worked as a signal communication officer and an electronic warfare officer on modern navy ships.

The Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Navy Medal have been given to the Vice Admiral in recognition of their noteworthy and deserving work.

Additionally, the Vice Admiral oversaw INS Vinash, Kirch, and Trishul. He assumed command of the Western Naval Command as Flag Officer Commanding in Chief. At a time when China is also stepping up its activities in India's maritime zone, Dinesh Tripathi has taken on this new role. However, India continues to be concerned about the Pakistani Army's cooperation with China.
