Liam Livingstone Dropped as England Announce Squad for 2026 T20 World Cup
Liam Livingstone, England Squad, T20 World Cup 2026: All-rounder Liam Livingstone, who was sold for ₹13 crore (approximately $130 million) in the IPL 2026 mini-auction, has not been included in England's T20 World Cup squad.
England has also revealed its T20 World Cup squad for 2026. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have omitted all-rounder Liam Livingstone from this 15-member T20 World Cup squad. Emerging fast bowler Josh Tongue is included in this T20 World Cup side. This side is led by aggressive hitter Harry Brook. It is unexpected that Livingstone was included in this T20 World Cup side. Livingstone received plenty of cash in the IPL 2026 mini-auction.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Livingstone at the auction for a staggering price of ₹13 crore (~$130 million). Last season, Livingstone was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In 2025, RCB won the championship; however, Livingstone's performance wasn't outstanding. He could manage to score 112 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 133.33. He also scored a half-century. He bowled nine overs and took two wickets at an economy rate of 8.44.
In place of Livingstone, the England selectors have given opportunities to youngsters like Will Jacks and Jack Bethell. Furthermore, Livingstone's role in the team has been unclear for some time. He has sometimes batted lower down the order, sometimes higher up the order. Because of this, he has lost his old rhythm and has been unable to cement his place in the team.
