Step Into History: The Ancient ‘Processional Way’ That Connects Modern Cairo to Giza Pyramids

Can you picture a route connecting the fast-paced world we live in to a civilization existing several thousand years ago? That’s exactly the kind of journey that awaits people traveling on the road to Giza, Egypt.

The road is located on the west bank of the Nile River, south-west of Cairo. It leads tourists to the majestic pyramids of ancient Egypt through the current bustling city of Cairo.

Surprising as it may sound, this road is regarded as one of the most ancient roads to exist up till now. It was created some 4,600 years ago, in the time of the Egyptian Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom era. It is 12 kilometers long and is 6.5 feet wide. Even after so many years, this road tells the story of ancient Egypt's exquisite architecture and superb engineering.
