Now Edit Your Comments on Instagram: New Feature Fixes Long-Standing Issue
Instagram's big announcement: Instagram has announced a new feature that will allow users to edit their comments. Users have been waiting for this feature for a long time.
It is now possible to make changes to your comments on Instagram. This will solve an issue that has existed since time immemorial on the platform. The feature is currently being rolled out globally. It is now possible to edit your comment immediately after posting. Instagram has allowed users to edit their posts, but they could not do so for comments.
According to a press release, Instagram users are now able to make alterations to their comments within 15 minutes of making them. The number of edits you are allowed to make is unlimited.
To edit a comment, users can tap the new 'Edit' option, which will appear below the posted comment. Selecting this option opens a new pop-up window, allowing users to edit the comment's text before saving the updated version.

However, there are some limitations. According to the company, only the text portion of a comment can be edited. This means that if a comment contains both text and an image, users will only be able to edit the written content, not the image.
In addition, a light gray 'Edited' label will appear on the edited comment, indicating that changes have been made. However, Instagram will not allow viewing the comment's version history. Once edited, other users will no longer be able to see the original comment.
This feature has been long-awaited. Instagram introduced editable captions for posts in 2014, but the ability to edit comments wasn't available for over a decade. In comparison, X (formerly Twitter) began testing editable posts and comments in 2022, but this feature depends on availability and subscription plans.
Meanwhile, Threads, Instagram's text-based social platform and X's competitor, allows users to edit posts within a limited timeframe.
