Amrit Bharat Station Yojana: PM Modi will present a gift of Rs 41 thousand crores today to revive 554 railway stations nationwide

Today, thousands of crores of rupees will be gifted to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, covering numerous railway and infrastructure development projects. Through video conference, the Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone, open and dedicate approximately two thousand railway and infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 41,000 crore to the country. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

According to media reports, 533 railway stations have been selected from all the states and union territories. The stations will be redeveloped at a cost of over Rs 19,000 crore. Modern facilities will be provided to the passengers at the stations. These include rooftops, plazas, beautiful landscaping, intermodal connectivity, improved modern façade, children's play area, kiosks, food courts etc. These will be developed environment and disabled friendly. The design of the station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Road Over Bridge (ROB) and underpass in many parts of the country. He will also inaugurate the level crossing gates once the construction work is completed. These include Delhi's Tilak Bridge Railway Station. Under this program, 92 ROBs and RUBs of Northern Railway are included which include 56 in Uttar Pradesh, 17 in Haryana, 13 in Punjab, 4 in Delhi, and one each in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The foundation stone of 43 ROBs and RUBs will be laid in the Lucknow division, 30 in the Delhi division, 10 in the Firozpur division, seven in the Ambala division and 2 in the Moradabad division. Eliminating level crossings is a priority for train operations.

It is noteworthy that Railways is working rapidly towards eliminating manned level crossing gates. This will not only speed up the trains but will also separate rail and road traffic. There will be no hindrance in train movement and the city's traffic system will also continue to run smoothly. There will be no congestion of trolleys, trolleys and other vehicles at level crossing gates due to the movement of trains. This will not only reduce accidents but will also reduce the travel time by train.

The elimination of manned level crossings will encourage economic activity by facilitating the movement of goods trains. Vehicles waiting at railway crossings contribute to pollution in the city. Once the construction is completed, the level of environmental pollution will be reduced. On average, the Railways operates more than 1,200 passenger and express trains daily. Two crore passengers travel through it every day.
