Toyota has issued a recall of 51,644 units of Camry Hybrid models sold within the US due to a technical defect that may suddenly cause the loss of power. The recall is also expected to impact Camry Hybrid units from model year 2025 to 2026, along with model year 2026 Corolla Cross, constituting a total of 3,761 units.

According to documents filed, the case has been filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The report states that the problem is related to the hybrid system's inverter assembly. This component transmits electricity from the battery to the electric motor. According to Toyota, a bolt inside the inverter may become loose, causing a break in the circuit.

If the open circuit happens, the car could lose power suddenly or go into “limp mode,” which means that the power from the car will be constrained. In some cases, the problem may also lead to a short circuit, creating a risk of fire. The manufacturer explains that warning lights would inform the driver.

Toyota stated that 34 incidents related to this problem have been reported so far, and 15 warranty claims have been filed. Based on these data, the company has decided to voluntarily recall. No serious accidents have been confirmed at this time, but this step has been taken as a precaution.

The company has not yet determined a permanent solution to this defect. Toyota says it is working on a fix and will share information with affected vehicle owners as soon as a solution is ready. Meanwhile, the company will send a recall notification to all relevant customers by February 13, 2026.

Toyota has clarified that once the repair process is finalized, all necessary repairs will be covered free of charge under warranty. Vehicle owners can contact Toyota customer service or visit the NHTSA recall website to check if their vehicle is included in this recall.

The Toyota Camry was also recalled in India in October 2025. The issue was related to the parking assist ECU, which is part of the panoramic view monitor system. If this defect was not fixed, the rear-view image could freeze or the display could turn off. The current starting price of the Toyota Camry in the Indian market is ₹47.48 lakh (ex-showroom).
