The Jagan Mohan Reddy government of Andhra Pradesh has detained the leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The TDP leaders were visiting the sand dunes to protest against the alleged Rs 40,000 crore sand scam during the last four years of the YSR Congress.
TDP leaders demanded the sealing of the sand mining area in Amaravati. During this, when the police stopped them, TDP leaders and workers sat on the road in protest. Former MLA Komalapati Sridhar and former minister Pullarao were on their way to protest at Konuru and Kottapalli sand dunes in Achampeta mandal of Pedakurapadu assembly in Amaravati.
When the Amravati police stopped the TDP leaders, they started arguing with the police. Police officials said TDP leaders would not be allowed to reach the sand mining belt without permission. After this, the police took the TDP leaders into custody and took them to the police station.
Let us tell you that earlier on August 25, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu sought a response from Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy within 48 hours on the alleged loot of sand worth Rs 40,000 crore in the last four years. Naidu has announced that soon after the TDP government is formed in the state, an inquiry will be ordered into the corruption in sand mining.
On sand loot allegedly worth thousands of crores by CM Jagan at party headquarters in Amaravati, Chandrababu Naidu said officials involved in the scam will also face investigation and will be punished if found guilty. The former Chief Minister said that the orders of the National Green Tribunal and the Supreme Court had been violated through the sand scam.
Chandrababu further attacked CM Jagan Reddy, saying, "The man who ran a corrupt campaign when he was in the opposition that sand was being looted in the state. He had promised door-delivery of sand, The state has been looted in these four years."
