A tenth-class student, Devraj succumbed to his injuries in the Udaipur knife attack case on Monday. The student was undergoing treatment in the hospital following the incident. Keeping the sensitivity of the incident in view, the District Collector and SP reached the hospital, along with other senior officials, to take stock of the situation. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.

It is worth mentioning that violence increased in Udaipur after the knife attack on Devraj. The district administration had imposed prohibitory orders in the area following the incident and the internet was also shut down.

The stabbing also saw protests by members of several Hindu organizations, leading to communal tension in the area. Seeing this unrest, the district administration swung into action. On Saturday, officials along with police personnel used JCB machines to demolish the house of the accused boy. According to officials, the house was constructed on forest land, so based on existing rules, demolition is justified.
