Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary is to become the home of cheetahs after Kuno National Park. Two cheetahs named Prabhas and Pavak are to be introduced to Gandhisagar on 20th April. The first move to shift cheetahs was sanctioned by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav at the review meeting attended by Union Forest-Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav. The move is to give wings to the Cheetah Corridor project between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. After cheetahs have been shifted to Gandhisagar, it is anticipated that one can view them running up to Rawatbhata forest, Mukundra, Shergarh, Sheopur, and Ranthambore.

This initial repopulation of cheetahs within the country begins at night on Saturday, concluding at 3 pm Sunday. As part of Project Cheetah, 12 cheetahs arrived from South Africa on 18 February 2023. Pavak and Prabhash are two of them. Pavak is 5 years old, while Prabhash is 5 and a half years old currently. In view of future requirements, initially, two cheetahs are being settled in Gandhi Sagar along the cheetah corridor. According to wildlife experts, this will not only increase the population of cheetahs in the country but will also establish new dimensions of environmental protection and tourism.

Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve is connected to Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. According to retired Deputy Forest Conservator Daulat Singh Shaktiwat, if cheetahs move from Kuno, then they can reach Gandhi Sagar via Sheopur, Ranthambore, Shergarh in Hadoti, Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve, and the forests of Rawatbhata. On the other hand, if cheetahs move from Gandhi Sagar, then they can run to Kuno via the forests of Rawatbhata, Mukundara, Shergarh, Sheopur, and Ranthambore.
