On the surface, this seems beneficial because the user gets some additional storage for six or 18 months. But if not handled carefully, this facility will prove to be disastrous for them.
The fact is that Google provides 15GB of free cloud storage for every person for services like Gmail, Google Drive, and Photos. This creates trouble when the person uses the free 1TB or 2TB storage without any restrictions.
Once the free trial period expires, managing the stored information becomes troublesome. When the cloud storage becomes full, emails do not receive on Gmail.
