The death toll in the plane crash in Nepal's Pokhara on Sunday has risen to 70. But in the meantime, questions are being raised regarding the landing of the ATR-72 plane in Nepal. Actually, airport spokesperson Anup Joshi says that the pilot of the plane had informed about landing on runway 12 one instead of runway 30 shortly before the accident.
After this, the runway was evacuated. These are two ends of a single runway, runway 30 being the eastern end and runway 12 being the western end. According to instrument flight rules, landing a flight on the western runway required special experience, which the pilot did not have. An official said on the condition of anonymity that the pilot did this to teach the co-pilot.
This airport in Pokhara was started on New Year's Day itself. To make it, the Government of Nepal had taken a loan of about 137 crore rupees from China. The deadline of January 1, 2023, was kept, but by then it was not fully ready. It was inaugurated in haste due to the pressure of the deadline.
There were also 5 people in the plane accident who had come to Kerala, India to attend the condolence meeting of their close friend after his death. Although two of his companions stopped at the Kathmandu airport, the remaining three were killed on their way to Pokhara.
Nepal's air hostess Oshin Aale was also in the plane. The people of Nepal knew him as Tiktoker. She used to make reels on Hindi songs. A Tiktok video of Oshin before the accident is also viral, in which she is smiling.
