DRDO scientist passed intelligence to Pakistani agent: was in contact through WhatsApp-video calls, ATS arrested

A DRDO scientist has been arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Maharashtra's Pune on charges of passing intelligence to a Pakistani agent. An ATS official said on Thursday that scientist Pradeep Kurulkar was in contact with an agent of a Pakistan intelligence operative through WhatsApp, voice messages and video calls.
It is being claimed that this is a case of honeytrap. Pakistan's agent framed him with pictures of women on social media. He was in contact with the Pakistani agent from September-October last year.
ATS said that the scientist misused his position. Knowing that if the enemy country gets the information of our country then it can be a threat to the security. Despite this, he did so. A case has been registered against Kurulkar on Wednesday under sections 1923, 1923 and other sections of the IPC.
According to media reports, Kurulkar has worked on several DRDO projects including missiles. His profile is that of a Team Leader & Lead Designer. He has been instrumental in the successful design and development of several equipments, including missile launchers.
