CDS General Anil Chauhan visited Gajraj Corps of Indian Army, stressed the importance of self-reliance in defense sector

Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan visited the Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army in Tezpur on Saturday. They were given the latest information about the current operational situation and preparedness.

Defense officials said the Chief of Defense Staff General addressed the Indian Army and Air Force officers of the Eastern Command and stressed the need for jointness and integration to meet future challenges and the importance of self-reliance in the defense sector.

Gajraj Corps is responsible for the Kameng sector on the northern borders. Gajraj Corps was established on October 4, 1962, amid the India-China conflict. The Corps has played a commendable strategic role in both conventional and counter-insurgency operations in the Eastern Diaspora. During the liberation of Bangladesh during the Indo-Pak war of 1971, Gajraj Corps advanced to Dhaka and also took part in the Meghna Heli Brigade operation.
