The Election Commission of India (ECI) has cancelled the suspension of former Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar. Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar Chief Minister A. during the counting of votes. Was suspended for meeting Revanth Reddy. Anjani Kumar was suspended for alleged violation of the model code of conduct. DGP Anjani Kumar met the CM when the counting of votes for the state assembly elections was going on.
Following the suspension of Anjani Kumar, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Ravi Gupta was appointed DGP. The High Commission lifted the suspension after Anjani Kumar submitted an explanation, stating that he had not knowingly violated the MCC.
The IPC officer told the election panel that he had gone to Revanth Reddy's house at his request. He reportedly assured the commission that the mistake would not be repeated in future. The ECI had on December 3 directed the Chief Secretary to suspend Anjani Kumar and hand over the charge of DGP to the next senior most eligible officer.
