Veteran Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat recently won the 50 kg division at the Bishkek, Kazakhstan, Olympic qualifiers, earning India a trip to Paris. However, Vinesh encountered difficulties the day before the qualifying match after learning that she was obese and had gained 700 grammes. In this case, Vinesh and the coach devised a special technique and used the gold bath to shed pounds.

Vinesh said, due to being overweight, coach Voler Akos and I were very worried. Especially the coach was getting very angry. He became so desperate that he wanted to cut my hair, but he knew that would not solve the problem. She said, I could fight with anyone, but losing weight is very difficult. One's life is lost in this.

Vinesh said that Coach Voller asked for help from one of his friends and we decided to lose weight through gold bath. Vinesh said, the coach was also with me in Sona Bath, where I stayed in 100 degrees for 30 minutes. He started patting me to generate more heat. But, I wasn't sweating. It has happened in the past that if I go to sleep immediately after training, I don't sweat much. After a while I told the coach, I was feeling suffocated and my skin was also burning, but I was not sweating. In the end, I lost 300 grams of weight.

Vinesh said that despite the gold bath, her weight was still 400 grams more. She said, I knew that having good sleep reduces my weight and due to this I lost 300 grams. The next day when my weight was taken before the qualifiers, it was just 100 grams more than 50 kg.

The Indian wrestler said that losing the last 100 grams of weight was even more difficult. He said, I did not eat anything the whole day and drank only 500 ml of water. 300 ml on the flight to Bishkek and 200 ml during the training session in the evening. In this way, I brought myself up to 50 kg weight and fought the fight.
