Vivo S60 May Set New Standard in Mid-Range Segment With 3D Fingerprint Sensor

Vivo is set to unveil the S60 in China towards the end of the month, according to news reports from Tuesday. Alongside the unveiling, the company revealed the design of the new model that features a rectangular rear camera array. In another development, an executive at Vivo stated on Monday that the battery of the Vivo S60 will be considerably bigger compared to that of the Vivo S50. The Vivo S50 was released in China last December, featuring a battery capacity of 6,500 mAh. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the phone will be equipped with a 3D ultrasonic scanner for security.

In a post on Weibo, the smartphone maker announced that the upcoming Vivo S60 will launch in China on May 29th at 7:30 PM local time (5:00 PM IST). Along with the launch date, the tech firm also revealed the rear design of its upcoming S-series smartphone.

The handset is seen sporting a rectangular rear camera module, housing a dual camera system and an LED flash. Additionally, the Vivo S60 has been teased with a flat rear panel with the company's branding placed at the bottom center. The Vivo S60 is shown in a white color option, with blue shades on the back. It will come with a 'unibody cold-carved glass' design. The power button and volume controls are visible on the right side of the phone.

This comes a day after Vivo product manager Han Boxiao revealed that the Vivo S60 will feature a 7,200mAh Blue Ocean battery. It will support Vivo's "Global Direct Drive Power Supply 2.0" and "Micro Electric Wizard 2.0" for thermal management during charging, which will save user tasks before the phone's battery runs out. The phone will come with IP68 + IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It is also confirmed to feature a dual-speaker setup, an IR blaster, and an X-linear vibration motor for improved haptics.
