This particular place is located half way between Jaipur and Alwar and is only about 50 kilometers away from Sariska National Park. Legends of ghost may scare some people, but still the historical significance of this site as well as the scenic beauty of the location attracts the tourists.

According to legend, a tantrik, an expert in black magic, fell in love with a beautiful princess of Bhangarh, who had many other suitors. One day, while the princess was in the market, the tantrik offered her a "love potion" to control her, but she refused and threw the potion onto a heavy rock nearby.
It is said that the rock moved on its own and crushed the tantrik to death. The tantrik cursed the whole village in his last breath and said that the fort and surroundings would be destroyed and left deserted forever.
As per the stories, the fort is haunted by wandering ghosts at night. This is the reason why no one is allowed to go inside the fort before sunrise and after sunset. There are many such tales about the fort till date which proves their belief in the fact that the fort is haunted.
