Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who went on a visit to Laos, addressed his counterparts including China's Dong Jun at the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting and (ADMM Plus). In his address, he said that the world is rapidly getting polarised in different regions and camps. This is creating tension in the established world order.

During the ten-country ASEAN conclave in Laos's capital Vientiane, Singh said, "We all should adopt Lord Buddha's principle of peace and coexistence more deeply, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the sidelines of the function.

It is by upholding these principles that intricate international issues have been amicably sorted out for India through dialogue. India has always believed in clear dialogue and peaceful settlement. India has walked this route for everything; from border disputes to trade agreements and international challenges. Open dialogue lays the bedrock of trust, mutual understanding, and cooperation that is essentially required for a permanent partnership. The power of dialogue is always effective, and gives positive results. This increases coordination and stability on the global stage.

Clarifying India's stand on the Indo-Pacific region, the Defence Minister said that India fully understands the role of the ten ASEAN countries for regional peace and prosperity. In this regard, India wants to see such standards on the determination of code of conduct that do not determine legal rights with any prejudice. He also stressed on having a code of conduct for the South China Sea, saying that various countries in the region are facing pressure from China's growing military presence. Note that China strongly opposes the code of conduct.
