Sale of 14 drugs of fixed-dose combination banned: Used to treat common infections, cough, and fever

The central government has banned the sale of 14 fixed-dose combinations (FDC) drugs. The drugs banned by the government include a total of 14 drugs including Paracetamol Dispersible Tablets, Nimesulide, and Chlorpheniramine Maleate. The Health Ministry has said that the harm caused by all these medicines is not known and they can pose a risk to the people.
The Health Ministry said in a notification that the medicines that have been banned include medicines used to treat common infections, cough, and fever. It may be known that the Center has taken this step after the recommendations of the expert committee. The committee said in its report that there is no medical justification for this fixed dose combination drugs and all drugs can prove to be harmful to humans.
The expert committee said that it is necessary to ban the sale and distribution of all these drugs. The notification said that the expert committee and the Drugs Technical Advisory Board had recommended that the use of all these drugs be banned in the country.
Fixed dose combinations are those medicines, which are made by mixing two or more medicines. It may be known that earlier in the year 2016, the government announced a ban on 344 similar drugs.
This time the central government has banned medicines used to treat common infections, cough, and fever.
