Gonzalo Ramos scored a hat-trick as Portugal beat Switzerland 6-1 in the pre-quarterfinals of the Football World Cup in Qatar. With this, Portugal's team reached the quarterfinals after 16 years. Earlier in 2006, Portugal had travelled to the semi-finals.
Ramos was included in the starting XI for the first time in place of Cristiano Ronaldo. In this match, Cristiano was fielded as a replacement. Ronaldo could not score a single goal in this match.
