Rajasthan Monsoon Update: Heavy rains in Rajasthan have created flood-like conditions in many districts. On Wednesday, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh and Tonk received extremely heavy rainfall. More than seven inches of water fell in Tonk and Bhilwara.

Heavy rains in the last 48 hours across the state have caused flood-like conditions in many districts. The highest rainfall of 9.5 inches was recorded in Lamba Harisingh, Tonk. Meanwhile, 7.5 inches of rain fell in Bhilwara on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department has issued another warning for very heavy rain today. Since June 1, Bhilwara has received the highest rainfall in the state, totaling 622 mm.

Apart from these areas, heavy rains also impacted Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Chittorgarh, Pali, Banswara, and Beawar. There is a flood-like situation in Modak town of Kota district, with water reaching houses, schools, hospitals, and ATMs. About 13 inches of rain in Chittorgarh has caused many villages to become cut off from the city.

Monsoon remains very active in the state on Thursday as well. An orange alert has been issued for very heavy rain in Bhilwara today. Additionally, a warning for very heavy rain has been issued for Ajmer, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Udaipur, Jalore, Nagaur, and Pali.

Due to heavy rainfall, there is a significant inflow into the dams across the state. On Wednesday, 180 MCM water entered the dams. Bisalpur Dam, which supplies water to Jaipur and surrounding districts, has experienced a strong inflow over the past 24 hours, raising the water level to 313.12 meters. On July 1, the level was 312.62 meters. The catchment area’s heavy rains are quickly increasing the water level of the Triveni River.

Eight of the nineteen gates at Kota Barrage have been opened. During the heavy rains, two gates of Rana Pratap Sagar Dam are releasing water, along with three gates of Jawahar Sagar Dam. Six smaller dams in Bassi area are completely filled.
