IPL 2024: Big announcement of Punjab Kings, Jitesh Sharma made the new captain

The Indian Premier League 2024 season was not good for Punjab Kings and they became the second team to be eliminated from the race for the playoffs. The team has played 13 matches and won 5. At the beginning of this season, Shikhar Dhawan took command of the team and when he got injured, the responsibility was given to England's star all-rounder Sam Curran. Now Sam Curran has also returned to his country to prepare for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In such a situation, Jitesh Sharma has been given the command of Punjab Kings for the remaining matches.

Punjab Kings had a winning start to the season this year before dropping their next two games. It appeared as though Punjab was back on the winning track after defeating Gujarat Titans, but the team was deemed out of the playoff race after suffering four straight losses. Following Shikhar's injury, Sam Curran assumed the captaincy, but he was unable to produce much of an impact either. The team was eliminated from the playoffs after two victories and two losses. The final game will now take place at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, and Jitesh Sharma will captain the team in lieu of Sam Curran, who is expected to return to the nation.
