Severe Heatwave Warning in Rajasthan; Barmer, Jaisalmer Among Worst-Hit

The heat in Rajasthan has intensified, and there are indications that the situation is going to worsen in the coming days. According to the latest weather forecast from the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, a heat wave is predicted to begin impacting numerous areas in Rajasthan beginning April 17. As per the Meteorological Department, there will be continuous increases in daytime temperatures, and heat waves have started impacting the western region of the state. Yellow alerts have been issued for Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer, and Barmer. Heatwaves will further intensify in Sriganganagar and Barmer on April 18. Maximum temperatures are anticipated to reach 44 degrees Celsius within three days in the western region of Rajasthan.
Over the past 24 hours, the weather remained clear across the state, and bright sunshine rapidly increased daytime temperatures. Western Rajasthan is experiencing the most heat. Barmer recorded 41.6 degrees Celsius, and Kota 41.5 degrees Celsius. Temperatures also reached 40.5 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer and Churu. Heatwaves also exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in several other districts, including Chittorgarh. However, light clouds and winds brought some relief in the evenings in some areas of Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Alwar. Nagaur also experienced partial cloud cover in the evenings.
Overall, the heat wave in Rajasthan will reach its peak over the next three to four days. Maximum daytime temperatures may reach around 42 to 44 degrees Celsius, and the heat wave will intensify in the western districts. People have been advised to avoid going out during the afternoon and remain vigilant.
