The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is growing very fast in India's leading business schools. A survey undertaken by MBAUniverse.com indicated that the majority of B-school faculty now utilize generative AI in research, teaching, and curriculum building. Yet surprisingly, just 7% of the faculty possess the knowledge to utilize AI on an expert level.

According to the survey, 51% of faculty believe that AI is having a positive impact on student learning. Meanwhile, 55% are intermediate users and only 7% are experts. This means there's significant potential for AI training and capacity building in B-schools.

The report stated that faculty are primarily using AI for research and teaching. Its role in curriculum development is also growing. However, its use in administrative work and student assessment is still in its infancy.

According to the survey, ChatGPT was considered the most useful AI tool for teaching, followed by Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. Google Gemini and Cloud received moderate ratings, while Meta AI was considered the least relevant.

Faculty also cited several challenges regarding the use of AI in research. Among these, the biggest concerns were ethics and integrity. Inaccurate or unreliable results and a lack of clear policies are also significant challenges.

The survey clearly demonstrates that the influence of AI is rapidly increasing in Indian B-schools. However, faculty desperately need training and guidance in its use so that it can be used responsibly in education and students can get maximum benefit.
