Over the next five years, 60,000-80,000 employment opportunities will be created within the agricultural technology sector. These opportunities will arise in sectors that include the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), technology, and supply chain management.

TeamLease Services Chief Strategy Officer Subburathinam P said the agricultural technology sector in India employs about one lakh people in various roles, including technical, operational and managerial.

This newly created employment will be offered in agriculture-based states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. Even the agriculture startup hubs such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Gurugram will also play an essential role in providing employment. Technology in agriculture solves every aspect of farming. It involves making water irrigation advancements for the seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to access advanced machinery and market linkages to sell the produce.

In fact, another report has agreed to it, by Ernst & Young (E&Y), agricultural technology companies in India offer an opportunity of $24 billion. The market is 1.5 percent today. About 450 agricultural technology startups were estimated in the country in the year 2022. This number has been growing annually at 25 percent per year.
