Meta is retiring one of its most used apps soon. In a significant update to users, Meta recently informed users that the Messenger desktop application on Windows and macOS will be fully phased out from December 15, 2025. It will no longer be possible to log in to the app after the date, and users will have to communicate via the Facebook website.

The company has stated that it will soon begin informing users of this change through notifications within the app. According to Meta's help page, "As soon as the app deprecation process begins, users will receive an in-app alert. They will then have up to 60 days to process the app before it is discontinued."

Meta advises users to delete the Messenger app immediately, as it will stop working completely after 60 days. The company says Mac and Windows users will still be able to send messages through the Facebook website or desktop app.
