Google Rolls Out Gemini Thinking Levels to Android and iOS - Free and Paid Users in India Get Access
Google has begun rolling out new 'Thinking Levels' across its mobile apps and web platform, allowing users to control the depth of reasoning in Gemini AI models.

Google's rolling out "Thinking Levels" for its Gemini AI models on various platforms, including both Android and iOS apps. An exec made the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter. These modes are now available in certain global markets, such as India, for both free and paid users. The Gemini app uses either the Gemini 3.1 or 3.5 series models and offers three different thinking levels. Plus, there's a new "Extended Thinking" mode which allows for better response quality because the AI takes more time to come up with an answer.
Josh Woodward, the VP of Gemini and AI Studio at Google, revealed this news on Wednesday. He mentioned that the update includes the Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite, Gemini 3.5 Flash, and Gemini 3.1 Pro models in the app’s browser version and mobile applications. These new Thinking Modes are available for the Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite, Gemini 3.5 Flash, and Gemini 3.1 Pro models.
It has been verified that Gemini's Thinking Levels are available to all paid and free users in India. All three Gemini models come with two Thinking Levels as standard. However, in a video shared by a Google executive, the Gemini 3.1 Pro model also features a third Thinking Level, called 'Deep Think.' Google claims this mode offers maximum parallel reasoning. Announced on February 12th of this year, Deep Think Mode is currently available only to Google AI Ultra subscribers.
