PM Modi will address virtually, 3 thousand Saurashtri Tamils reached Somnath in 10 days

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the closing ceremony of the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam on Wednesday at 10.30 am via video conferencing. This program is going on for the last 10 days in Somnath, Gujarat. Over 3,000 Saurashtri Tamils have reached Somnath by a special train to participate in the celebrations that began on April 17.
According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the event has been organized to promote PM Modi's vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. It helps to bring forth and reinvigorate the age-old ties between people in different parts of the country. Keeping this in mind, the first Kashi Tamil Sangamam was also organized.
Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam takes this vision forward by celebrating the culture and heritage shared between Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Centuries ago, many people migrated to Tamil Nadu from the Saurashtra region. Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam has given Saurashtra Tamils an opportunity to reconnect with their roots.
Invasions between the years 600–1000 forced many people to migrate from Saurashtra in Gujarat and establish new settlements in the districts of Tamil Nadu around Madurai, now known as Tamil Saurashtrians.
