Heavy rains are hitting Rajasthan due to a low-pressure area over Madhya Pradesh. Rivers and drains are in flood in many parts of the state, causing flood-like conditions. People are suffering injuries and fatalities from rain-related accidents. On Monday, Jaipur received up to 4 inches of rain, resulting in severe waterlogging on the roads. The rain started at 5:30 pm and lasted about 3 hours, during which many vehicles drowned in water due to road flooding. Traffic came to a complete halt. The newly installed drainage system on Sikar Road, claimed to cost crores of rupees, has also completely failed.

The weather department has issued warnings for extremely heavy rain in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions on July 30 and 31. The IMD has issued a rain alert for 27 districts today, including a red alert indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Karauli. Relief from the heavy rains is expected only after August 1.

Meanwhile, many districts including Kota, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Pali, Jhalawar, and Jaipur experienced heavy rains on Monday, creating flood-like conditions. Two people lost their lives in different accidents. Rivers are in spate due to continuous rainfall. Dams on the Chambal, Kalisindh, and Banas rivers have opened their gates. Out of 23 large dams in the state, 7 are already overflowing, along with 226 small and medium dams. A private school bus got stuck on the Kerala River in Sirohi’s Kerala village with 35 children aboard. Two youths on a bike were swept away while crossing a bridge on the Bedach River in Chittorgarh. A minor girl drowned in Rawatbhata, Chittorgarh. An elderly woman died due to lack of medical treatment. Additionally, a youth died after falling from the embankment of Moti Sagar Dam in Tonk.
