Korean auto giant Kia has confirmed that its three-row electric SUV Kia EV9 will enter the Indian market next year in 2024. The company has revealed its India plans for the next year, saying that the EV9 electric car will be launched in India along with the new generation Carnival.

The Kia EV9 electric SUV was earlier showcased in India in concept form during the Auto Expo held in January. It was later launched in some global markets including Kia's domestic base. Kia had earlier said that it would launch the EV9 in India by 2025. The carmaker had said it plans to launch three new models in the next three years, including two new electric vehicles.

Kia launched its first electric car EV6 in India last year. Now the brand aims to strengthen its position in the EV segment with more offerings. News agency PTI quoted Tae-Jin Park, managing director and CEO of Kia India, as saying, "In 2025, we will start local production of EVs on a large scale and then every year we will continue to introduce electric models."

The Kia EV9 will be based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which is also based on the carmaker's first electric car, the EV6. Let us tell you that the length of EV9 is 5 meters. It will be available in 6 or 7-seat configurations and will be offered in two variants – HT Line and GT Line.

According to Kia, EV9 will give a range of up to 541 kilometers on a single charge. At the same time, with its 150 kW electric motor, it can accelerate from 0-100 km per hour in 9.4 seconds. There will be an RWD version of the Kia EV9, which will come with a more powerful 160 kW electric motor. The EV has an 800-volt electrical architecture, which enables the EV to charge at ultra-fast speeds. Kia claims that the EV9 can travel 239 kilometers in just 15 minutes of charging.
