According to the governor of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechlov, the incident happened just after the start of school. An unknown person entered the school with a gun. It is believed that he reached the school by climbing the boundary wall and for this reason escaped from the sight of the guards.
As soon as this man entered, he started firing on the children going to the class. During this, a stampede broke out in the school. When armed security guards surrounded the attacker, he also shot himself in the forehead. He has died.
The police, who reached the spot, surrounded the school part of the city of Izhevsk. Police suspect that the attacker was not alone, someone else could be with him. Every house in the area is being searched. It is not yet clear who the attacker was and what his motive was.
At present, children are being sent home from school under police protection. 24 people were injured, mostly students and teachers. Of these, condition 6 is stated to be critical. According to the governor, the attacker died some time ago. A special team is probing the matter.
