Government released the production standards of Green Hydrogen, made BEE the nodal agency
Green Hydrogen Standards: The Green Hydrogen Standard has been fixed by the Central Government. According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, well-to-gate emissions of green hydrogen should not exceed 2 kg CO2 /H2 per kg. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency has been entrusted with monitoring, verifying, and certifying green hydrogen production projects.
The standards for green hydrogen were issued by the government on Saturday and its definition also includes electrolysis and biomass-based methods. It is considered a major step in the National Green Hydrogen Mission. With this, India has joined the select few countries that have set the standard for green hydrogen.
It was said by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy that this is an essential step in the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The government has issued the Green Hydrogen Standard.
It was further informed that the standards of green hydrogen standard have been fixed by the government, on the basis of which it will be decided whether the hydrogen produced is green or not. Electrolysis-based and biomass-based hydrogen production methods are also included in the definition of the Green Hydrogen Standard.
