Karnataka Police has exposed a gang that defrauded 150 people of more than Rs 1 crore in the name of providing them jobs in the army. The police achieved this success in an operation in collaboration with the Army Intelligence Unit. Police arrested two people in this case on October 20. In a statement issued on Monday by the Defense Branch of the Press Information Bureau, it was said that the two arrested accused promised about 150 people that they would get them jobs in the Indian Armed Forces. For this, both of them recovered more than Rs 1 crore from these people. After a complaint was filed by a candidate who was a victim of fraud, the Intelligence Unit of the Indian Army shared important information about the gang with the Karnataka Police.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shivraj Vatagal, 40, a resident of Hubli and an Indian Army deserter, and his associate Beemmawa, at Srirampura police station in Chitradurga. Let us tell you that the accused, in the name of being a senior officer in the army, used to cheat people by luring them into getting jobs.
Police have recovered many fake documents related to the army from the arrested accused. These include identity cards of several armed forces, fake admit cards, post office stamps, and fake seals of joining units of armed forces and jobs.
