Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha attended a public rally in Sonampura Panchayat of Sipahijala district on Sunday. The by-election is to be held in this area on 5 September. While addressing the people there, CM Saha said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state believes in 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'. CM Saha showered praises in support of the BJP party.

CM Saha said during the rally, "Many people had expected a change in the government during the 2023 elections, but once again the BJP-IPFT government has to remain in power and for the benefit of all." Got the blessings of the people to continue working in the service. Our party stands firmly with the people of the state. Our government has always given priority to the welfare of the people. Our government's priority for all the people of the state is exactly the same as the previous government. It is the opposite. Our government believes in 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'."

By-elections in Dhanpur located in Sonampura sub-division and Boxanagar assembly constituencies of Sipahijala district of Tripura are scheduled to be held on September 5 and the counting of votes will take place on September 8.

BJP nominated Tafazzal Hussain for the Boxanagar assembly seat and Bindu Debnath for the Dhanpur constituency. Hussain is a local leader of Boxanagar while Debnath is the divisional president of the party in Dhanpur.

The by-election in the Boxanagar constituency was necessitated by the death of CPI(M) MLA Samsul Haque. Due to the resignation of Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik from the post of MLA of Dhanpur, it became necessary to conduct a by-election on that seat.
