Western Disturbance Brings Heavy Rain, Hail to Jaipur and 14 Districts
Rain in Rajasthan: Due to an active western disturbance in Rajasthan, the weather has disrupted Abujh Sawan. Rain and hailstorms have increased the cold in many districts, while also disrupting wedding ceremonies. Thunderstorms and rain were recorded in several areas, including Jaipur and Shekhawati. The Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts in several districts. The rain is also expected to damage crops.
Today, in Rajasthan too, the celebrations for Abujh Sawan are taking place along with Vasant Panchami. On this day, thousands of marriages are taking place, but rain and hailstorms in various areas have been disrupting the marriage ceremonies. In Jaipur, rain has been falling continuously since early in the morning, and this rain has increased the chill in the air. According to the Meteorological Department, in various areas of Rajasthan, heavy rain and hailstorms are falling due to the western disturbance that occurred since midnight. Even though the effect of Maawat is good for farming, the hailstorm warning has raised worries and concerns.
Rainfall has also been recorded on Thursday in many parts of western Rajasthan such as Jaisalmer and Sikar districts. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms for 14 districts, including Jaipur, on January 23rd, while a yellow alert has been declared for 11 districts.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather impacts caused by the western disturbance are being felt most in Bikaner, Shekhawati, Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions. An orange alert has been issued for the coming hours, warning of strong gusty winds, lightning, and heavy hailstorms. People in approximately 17 districts, including Jaipur, Alwar, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Churu, and Hanumangarh, have been advised to remain vigilant.
Last night, heavy rain accompanied by hailstorms hit areas like Sargoth, Simarla Jagir, Mehrauli, and Kolwa in the Shekhawati region, including the Ringas subdivision of Sikar. The hail covered the fields like a white sheet. This is expected to cause significant damage to the ripe barley, wheat, and mustard crops.

According to the Meteorological Department report, the minimum temperature was recorded at Ajmer 11.8, Bhilwara 11.1, Alwar 6.0, Jaipur 12.6, Pilani 9.7, Sikar 12.0, Kota 11.6, Chittorgarh 11.2, Barmer 13.4, Jaisalmer 11.7, Jodhpur 12.9, Mount Abu 9.0, Phalodi 13.2, Bikaner 13.4, Churu 10.4, Sriganganagar 8.2, Nagaur 8.7, Jalore 10.3, Sirohi 9.3, Fatehpur (Sikar) 8.1, Karauli 5.8, Dausa 6.4 and Jhunjhunu 10.9 degrees Celsius.
At present, there is little chance of getting relief from the weather. According to the Meteorological Department, another western disturbance is expected to develop over northwestern India between January 27 and 28. This is expected to bring another spell of frost to the state, which could lead to severe cold even into early February.
