Unnati Sharma won India's first silver medal in under-17 category

Indian shuttler Unnati Hooda won the silver medal in the Under-17 category at the Asian Junior Badminton Championships. She became the first Indian shuttler to do so. Before him, no Indian shuttler could even reach the finals in this category. She was defeated by Thailand's Sarunrak Witidsern in the final of the women's singles category.
The Asian Junior Championships in the Under-15 and Under-17 categories were held in Nonthaburi, Thailand. All the final matches of the championship were played on Sunday. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) shared the information of Unnati winning silver on social media.
In the men's double category event, the pair of Arsh and Sanskar also had to settle for a silver medal. They were defeated by the Chinese Taipei pair of Lai Po Yu and Yi-Hao Lin. Anish Thoppani also got a silver medal in the under-15 category. He was defeated by Chung-Hsiang Yi of Chinese Taipei 8-21, 24-22, 19-21 in the final.
After losing the first set, Anish came back to win the second set. But, she could not win the gold medal after a close defeat in the last set. He defeated Lee Yu-Jui in the semi-finals.
The pair of Arjun MR-Chirag Shetty in 2013 and Krishna Prasad Garga-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in 2015 won gold medals for India in Under-17 doubles.
