A major update on the TikTok ban in America has emerged. Donald Trump, the former President, has stated that even if TikTok is not acquired by an American firm, the deadline for the ban, i.e., June 19, 2025, may be extended for a further 75 days.

On NBC's "Meet the Press", Trump expressed that speaking with the host Kristen Welker, "I want this deal to occur. I have a special place for it in my heart because I won the younger voters by 36 points and focused on TikTok."

In fact, the US Congress enacted the Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act in 2023, wherein TikTok has come to be referred to as a national security risk, as well as a risk to the privacy of its users. Subsequent to that, TikTok had been prohibited in the US on 19th January, 2025. Nevertheless, as soon as Trump came into office, he initially issued a 75-day waiver that he later prolonged in April again.

Now Trump is in the mood to give relief to TikTok for the third time. He had talked about selling this app to a US company, so that TikTok's US operation goes completely into the hands of US investors. But China has objected to this deal and at present this deal has been temporarily stopped.
