'This is a black day for Indian democracy', know why Abhishek Banerjee said this after his release from police custody

The tussle between Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Trinamool Congress (TMC) has increased. Party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who along with TMC leaders came to meet the Union Minister on Tuesday night, claimed that Minister Niranjan Jyoti did not meet him despite giving him an appointment.

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee said on the latest controversy with Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti that "today is a dark day for Indian democracy." In fact, on Tuesday night, TMC leaders under the leadership of Banerjee staged a protest at Krishi Bhawan. Abhishek Banerjee was taken into custody while staging a sit-in at the ministry's office, but he was released by the police after a few hours.

TMC leader Banerjee took a dig at the Modi government at the Centre, saying Tuesday's incident would be seen as an example of 'New India' as public representatives were dragged and misbehaved by the Delhi Police. Along with this, a case was registered against the journalists who questioned the government under the anti-terrorism law UAPA.
