China is keeping an eye on internet users through TikTok and other apps
The privacy of users is an important aspect for all countries. In such a situation, it is often reported that some apps collect data from our users. Recently, information has been received that many apps like TikTok keep an eye on internet users. China is working to expand its influence abroad to reshape the global information ecosystem.
According to Voice of America, which cited an Australian study, China is tracking internet users worldwide through a number of other online media platforms, including online games, in addition to TikTok.
In a report released on May 2, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute stated that Beijing's propaganda chiefs were establishing connections with Chinese tech companies in order to obtain personal information from popular online games, apps, and media platforms. These also include the well-known online marketplace Teemu, the action game Genshin Impact, and the ride-sharing app DD.
The report said China is working to increase its influence abroad to reshape the global information ecosystem, so as to strengthen its grip on power. At the same time, its activities can be legitimized and China's cultural, technological, economic, and military influence can be increased.
