Delhi Storms have stopped the winning campaign of Kolkata Thunderbolts in the third season of Prime Volleyball League. In the match played at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Delhi defeated the Kolkata team in straight sets 15-9,16-14,17-15. Santosh was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance.
Saqlain has demonstrated the effectiveness of Delhi's strategy from the beginning of the game. This meant that Saqlain had to rely on his reliable middle Daniel Aponza to handle the threats posed by Aswal Rai and Vineet Kumar, while the setter had Amal and Santosh at his disposal to limit Delhi's attack from both ends. In the meantime, Kolkata remained near Delhi thanks to Vineet's steady swing. Conversely, Lazer Dodich's spikes enabled Delhi Storms to take an early lead.
Delhi's attack was maintained by Anu James' risky spike and subsequent super-serve, but Vineet's outstanding play instilled fear in Delhi's defence. Arjun Nath's block improved Kolkata's defensive position. After this, Amit's aggressive play kept Kolkata's hopes of a comeback alive, but due to Ayush's dangerous block, Delhi Storms took control of the match.
