Soybean purchase deadline extended till February 4 in Maharashtra and Rajasthan

Rajasthan News: On the request of the state governments, the Center has extended the deadline for soybean purchases in Rajasthan and Maharashtra. Now soybeans will be purchased in the state till February 4. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave information in this regard.

At the request of the state governments, the center has extended the deadline for the purchase of soybeans in Maharashtra to January 31 and in Rajasthan to February 4. The deadline earlier was January 12 for Maharashtra and January 15 for Rajasthan. This information was given by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

He said that a soybean purchase is going on and the purchase deadline has been extended in both states at the request of the state governments. Apart from this, permission has also been given to purchase 25 thousand tonnes of additional soybean from Telangana, which has already reached its initial target of 59,508 tonnes.

With this, the total purchase of soybeans across the country has reached 13.68 lakh tonnes. This procurement is happening under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) in Maharashtra and Rajasthan, wherein the government is buying soybeans at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 4,892 per quintal.

He also announced weekly meetings at Krishi Bhawan to review the status of crops, progress in procurement, price trends, and weather conditions.
